In this episode of In Search of a Song, I conduct an intimate and insightful interview with singer/songwriter/violinist/fiddler/multi-instrumentalist Tara Nevins. Tara started her career in high school playing violin and went to college as a classical violinist.
Topics discussed include: Early memories of music and discovering fiddle music; playing classical and old time music during college years; the difference between the fiddle and violin; her band “The Heartbeats”; the genesis of Donna the Buffalo- where did the name come from and does a name really mean something?; her record Mule To Ride; compares working with her to doing her solo records; her record Wood & Stone; working with Larry Campbell and Levon Helms; and covering “The Beauty of Days Gone By.”

Musical selections include: Tennessee River, River of Gold, Sweet Sensations, Wood and Stone, Stars Fell on Alabama, Locket and Key, Troubles, and The Beauty of Days Gone By (written by Van Morrison w/ Levon Helms on drums)
